The Roshni Review

The Roshni Review

I'm Roshni, and if we go to a restaurant together there are simply two rules: 1) the camera eats first (hunger can wait another few seconds) and 2) we are doing family style; yes, even if it means sharing a burrito.

Eating, cooking, and sharing food has always been one of the main ways I express myself and connect with others. With that in mind–and with some pressure from my friends–I decided to start this food blog!

The Roshni Review chronicles my food experiences through different countries, cultures, eateries, and, of course, dishes. Though my home base is in San Francisco, I am constantly traveling and experiencing new food, which I love to document and reflect upon.

A little bit about me

I was born and raised in Northville, Michigan and attended the University of Michigan. After consuming all the apples and fudge Michigan had to offer, I moved out to San Francisco, California where I work as a data science while also pursuing my Master's degree.

My family is from Odisha, a state an India that is often underrepresented in the ubiquitous world of diasporic Indian food (check out my first blog post for a description and examples of some Odia food). My connection to this rich and complex culture of food has been formative in teaching me to appreciate food with all of my senses (and never waste a bite, no matter how full I may be).
